It took me a long time to de-program myself from what everyone says about options.
Pick up 10 books on the subject and they basically all regurgitate the same stuff.
You will see graphs of spreads and straddles and strangles and get to learn about
all the greek terminology like the beta, theta, gamma, delta and the list goes on
and on. What you don’t realize is that showing you the charts of what the breakeven
and risk levels are in a silver butterfly, and giving you all the technical terms
don’t tell you anything about how to profitably trade options. Most of it is just
a slick marketing scheme to make you think you getting some real valuable trading
information when in reality, you aren’t getting anything that tells you HOW to use
that information to actually generate profits.
It wasn’t until I took the time to understand the foundation of how options work
that I was able to master trading them.
